This Southern Comfort Onion Gravy Steak recipe is a testament to the timeless appeal of Southern cooking, offering a mouthwatering meal that’s both satisfying and surprisingly simple to prepare.

Ingredients:
4 sirloin steaks, 1-inch thick, 4-6 ounces each, at room temperature
Garlic salt, to taste
Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons butter, divided
2 yellow onions, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/2 cup low sodium beef broth
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup heavy cream or half and half
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Directions:
Pat dry steaks with paper towels and season with garlic salt and pepper.
Heat vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear steaks until browned and cooked to desired doneness, about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Cook in batches if necessary.
Remove steaks and keep covered. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat.
Add onions, season with a pinch of salt, and cook until caramelized, about 10-12 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add garlic and Italian seasoning, cook for 10 seconds, then pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Scrape the skillet to loosen browned bits.
Bring to a boil, whisk in heavy cream, and cook for 1 minute. Reduce heat, return steaks to skillet, and simmer until heated through and sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
Garnish with parsley and serve.
